excitement to dissapointment in 2

I love Joni Mitchell's River. It is one of my favourite songs. A good ol' staple of a song.
You can imagine my excitement then, when I discovered an Aimee Mann cover. I mean, Aimee is no Joni, but she does good work. She is a good lyricist and performer and, from the small sampling I have, good at covers: "Two of Us" and "The scientist."
I could not believe my ears when I heard I heard Aimee's River. Its horrible. I mean, so bad I actually had to stop listening to it half way through.

Which is just plane un cool.
