whales, matzah, and wise men

I love the movie Whale Rider. It is no doubt one of the best stories and best movies ever, and Keisha Castle Hughs, at age 13, did a phenomenal job portraying the lead.

Since Whale Rider, Keisha has only had a small stunt in one of the new Star Wars movies.

It was brought to my attention that she is now going to be staring in what appears to be a really cool coming of age story about a young Jewish girl-- ok, maybe it would be less neat if she wasn't playing the lead.

What is more, her project that will be released, likely right before the latter is Nativity, in which she is going to play Mary (yes, as in the Virgin! True, she will be playing a Jewish girl both times, BUT still very philosophically-cnflicting roles.

Speaking of Nativity, its going to be directed by Catherine Hardwicke director of Thirteen and production designer of Vanilla Sky. In short, judging by the cast and the director's previous movies, in all liklihood it will be a terrific movie.

back to Keisha for a moment: maybe, if I see her on campus i will ask her about her new, fun roles! (or maybe I will just giggle like a little school girl and write about seeing her on my blog).

interesting! sounds like they'll both be superb movies. there's a new movie out here in ottawa called art school confidential that i want to see. only problem is that i work a lot and don't have much time to see movies, especially since usually my days off are spent watching the hockey games (if there's one on those nights).
